Cure 3 2025: Bonhams, London
Curated by Susie Allen and Laura Culpan, Artwise in Partnership with Bonhams to raise money and awareness for Cure Parkinson's.
Over 100 international artists were commissioned for Cure3 2025 to make a unique work, either within the Perspex CUBE or a bespoke SQUARE of the same core dimensions (20cm). For this 5th edition of Cure3 we were also delighted to include a specially commissioned selection of NFT works that, along with the CUBES and SQUARES, were be exhibited and sold to raise money and help find a cure for Parkinson's.
Since 2017 Cure3 has raised over 1 million pounds for CP and has swiftly become an eagerly anticipated highlight on the international artworld calendar. Under the careful curation of Susie Allen and Laura Culpan from Artwise, it has established itself as a fundraising contemporary art project with a worldwide reputation for quality and inventiveness.
Fiona Grady's artwork for Cure3 A Beam of Light - Encased is part of a new series of propositions created from transparent coloured fused glass panels presented in tangent with mirrored surfaces. It is an imagining of a frozen moment in time - capturing and encasing the imperceptible - a beam of light. The transparent object allows light to travel through it, throwing out its own pool of colour and shadows that interact with the mirrored base creating an illusion of shapes that exist beyond the physical planes of the cube.
The panel was made by cutting a specialist 'art' glass and fusing pieces together in a kiln. The glass colours change colour in the kiln due to their chemical composition, meaning there's always a little magic in the final outcome.
