Eye Candy: Rabbet Gallery, London
Eye Candy presents new artworks celebrating the incredibly versatile and addictive method of screen-printing, resulting from its marriage of analogue and digital processes.
Using a wide spectrum of inks from aluminium powders to fluorescents, highly vivid colours can be achieved making designs pop and stand out from their digitally printed counterparts. The exhibition presents 35 framed screenprints created specially for a portfolio by the members of Sonsoles Print Studio. With skill and practice, the screenprints have been editioned over the summer, and each member has created an edition for this project.
SPS is a hidden gem in Peckham Print Village that has run for over 12 years. Sonsoles is the founder of SPS, with a background in Fine Art Printmaking from the Royal College of Art. She created SPS out of necessity, aiming to provide an accessible studio space for all. The vibrant printmaking community includes creatives of various ages and backgrounds, including full-time artists, moonlighters, and craft-makers. Many members have found commercial success through their experience at SPS.
