Meeting Points, 2021
Site-specific vinyl window installation
Dimensions vary
Created for The Ridings Shopping Centre, Wakefield, commissioned by Artwalk Wakefield.

Fiona Grady's new installation Meeting Points, commissioned by Artwalk Wakefield, is inspired by the architecture of the site and stained glass windows in the nearby Cathedral. Composed of translucent coloured vinyl, the installation casts colourful shadows in daylight and creates an ambient glow at night. The installation can be found at The Ridings Centre for the foreseeable future.

Artwalk was back with a bang on Wednesday 28 July, with 19 venues opening and 5 brand new commissions launching. We were thrilled to invite venues old and new to join Artwalk and open their spaces to the public again, hosting a variety of exhibitions and events from 5pm.

The Ridings Shopping Centre was a hub of activity, with 2 public art pieces commissioned by Artwalk being unveiled, a drinks reception and pop-up shop, and 5 Makey Wakey space holders sharing the brilliant work they do with their communities. At The Art House, residency artist Jill McKnight launched her solo exhibition
Everything Is Still Floating, as well as the 20:20 print exchange touring exhibition being back for another year. At the Cathedral, visitors were encouraged to see and appreciate urban plants in Wakefield with Helen Thomas's Dandelions and Double Yellows exhibition, whilst over in the Cathedral Kitchen Helen Riddle live sewed part of her 7 metre long textile piece of The Art House. A new mural by Mohammad Barrangi was unveiled, and young bands in the Long Division Young Team programme performed for the first time at Lobby 1867.
