Crisp triangular motifs in enticing colours, criss-cross this site-specific vinyl window installation, designed especially for KCAW Festival. Golden triangles reflect the surrounding streetscapes, drawing parallels with the architectural details of local buildings and enlivening the vista for the passers-by.
The vacant shop unit was part of a series of installations and interventions along the Kings Road and wider area. Highlighting the importance of accessible artwork and the need to find alternative spaces to showcase artwork, Grady explored 'the relationship between what's going on outside and what is happening inside', playing with the shape of a space, available light sources, and its connection to its environment. Much like the busy high street the artwork was part of the 24-hour city lifestyle. During the day it reflected its surroundings whilst at night when illuminated it became a sophisticated, artistic beacon of light in the street scene.
Created for 312-314 Kings Road, London as part of Kensington + Chelsea Art Week October 2020 supported by the Sloane Stanley Estate.
