Fiona Grady was commissioned by ITV to design an 'ident' which was broadcast on their TV channel between advert breaks during Easter Week, Monday 15 to Sunday 21 April 2019.
For each week of the year, a different artist created a piece of work, which is their interpretation of the ITV logo. These were filmed and produced into a set of idents by ITV's in-house creative agency, ITV Creative. ITV Creative have worked with Artistic Director, Curator and Consultant Charlie Levine, to source and curate the artists to take part in this project, who are from a diverse range of backgrounds and are a mix of up and coming, and established artists, working across any visual arts discipline.
For her ident, Fiona Grady's stained glass inspired artwork incorporated the ITV logo into the design of her artwork, with the logo only appearing when the glass work is lit, throwing shadows onto nearby surfaces and revealing the hidden logo. The intention was to create a sense of drama to the artwork and a nod to the techniques of television that change the way we perceive reality.
ITV Creative's Executive Creative Director Tony Pipes describes the ITV Creates project, "The pieces are beautiful, daring, entertaining and sometimes challenging and that is ok because that is exactly what good TV should be."
